Gerry is a board-certified veterinary oncologist and has been interested in endangered wildlife since venturing to East Africa in 1982. During veterinary school, he spent four years researching endangered species reproduction; specifically he studied Siberian tigers. After traveling to India in 2002, and witnessing the extraordinary beauty and grandeur of Bengal tigers in the wild, he became convinced of the need for a company that would allow people to experience endangered animals first-hand, allow them to learn about these animals, and at the same time facilitate conservation efforts. This experience would be both exhilarating and informative. This company, Endangered Encounters would donate 100% of post tax profits to conservation and research efforts aimed at saving these endangered species. It is his hope that you will have the same thrill he did when he saw his first tiger in the wild. He has extensive management experience; he has started and operates three veterinary oncology specialty practices in the New York metropolitan area. He also founded and is president of the Animal Cancer Foundation, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to finding better and more effective treatments for cancers that affect pets and people. Dr. Post has dedicated his career and life to animals and conservation of wildlife has always been important to him. The success of conservation efforts is often directly linked to funding and participation by the local peoples. Nature related travel is one of the fastest growing segments of the worldwide travel industry, growing at 20% annually while the industry as a whole grows at only 4%. By starting Endangered Encounters he hopes to allow people to experience the exhilaration of seeing an endangered species in the wild, and at the same time, help save it.
